Buy one chicken...
...get one free. That there is a Chinese fried chicken from the hot deli inside the 99 Ranch Market in Van Nuys, which I got along with another fried chicken for a grand total of $5.99. (99 Ranch is a Chinese supermarket chain primarily out in California.) The first chicken was pretty good. The second one is for tomorrow. The 2-for-1 sign on the counter said this deal was a "special", but too much work was put into the sign for it not to be one of those specials that's always there.
I had planned on biking to the market, as it's a straight shot up Sepulveda, doable on the weekends without the traffic -- but it was about 100 degrees when I got to the top of the hill and I didn't feel like doing the 1000 foot climb with groceries on the way back. I've been intending to take a photo at the top, looking into the valley and back at Westwood, but the pain makes me forgetful.

I like the corkscrew in your chicken photo. It implies that the corkscrew/Swiss Army knife, whatever, was somehow used to eat the chicken.
